The Flying Shetlands was first started by equine artist and rider Shya Beth on May 30th, 2014. Her mission is to showcase and highlight unique and exceptional equine art and artists across the globe.
Growing daily, The Flying Shetlands has new articles every Tuesday and Friday. It’s also the founder of the first ever #equinearthour on Twitter where she interviews internationally known equine artists from across the world every Sunday, 4-5 pm. See the official page here.
About Shya Beth, writer/founder of The Flying Shetlands
Shya Beth is a homeschooled 15 year old high school student who grew up on her family farm in NJ, USA surrounded by horses and art. She always had a crayon, pencil or paint brush in her hand. She has won various champion, reserve champion and Best In Show awards for her art. She now spends most of her free time (when not training her OTTB or writing) working on her art projects in her studio on her farm. She has currently exhibited her art at the Garden State Horse Show (2013-2015) Centenary College’s Equine Center (2014-2015), EQUUS Film Festival in NYC (2015-2016) and Peters Valley Art Gallery (2015). She also contributes articles to Horse Nation and Equnews International.
Besides training her Off Track Thoroughbred, she has ponies, a donkey, a goofy doberman, alpacas, geese, chickens, ducks and cats.
